roughrider Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I used to be able to view my source code from within my browser but no longer. I can view other site pages ok but why can't I now view my stores source. I just wanted to check my meta tags but no matter if I clean out my cookies & temp files, I still can't read. I have not added any new coding or contribs i can think of that would affect this. Ride It Like You Stole It
Nacer Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 It happened to me quite few times, but it has nothing to do with osCommerce. It just IE that behave weirdly sometimes. Use Firefox it is lot better for developers and others. Regards, Nacer.
Jack_mcs Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 If the problem is happening in IE, it is due to a cache bug in that browser. To view the source, just click on the Refresh button first. Guest Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 sometimes may also happen if you run low in o/s resources it simply cannot launch another window but the ie sometimes has this problem. It's better to use a php script and view the html contents of a page. Works for https too.
Guest Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 i've been having a similar problem, but i can still view the source... but it's all jumbled into maybe 10 lines :o
user99999999 Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 If you hit refresh and view the source real fast you might get it.
roughrider Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 If you hit refresh and view the source real fast you might get it. You're right user999, why is that? If I try to view source even on pages that I've not browsed for weeks, I have to refresh & hit the view source real quick to catch it. Is there a problem with my store or is it nothing to worry about? Do you think it has anything to do with me enabling gzip recently? Thanks everyone. Ride It Like You Stole It
user99999999 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 I guess thats a question for Mr. Gates. I think its because the osc pages are not cached and the source view looks for a file in the cache to view.
