Which files to save?

I want to do a default installation and then update my osCommerce files/database with a few contri's. After that I want to keep those files and database for future (new) installations.

Those new installations will also be default and then I will replace those files and database with the files from the first updated installation.

I know that some files contain settings which are tipical for every installation, for Webiste Baker it's only the config.php.

Which files are used/changed during the installation and should not be overwriten by my saved files?

The configure file is usually the only one that has settings. All other files that get changed are usually listed in the contribution.

Thanks,

You mean the configuration.php in the catalog\admin?

I would save and files that you modify any way, in case you screw it up.. you can always go back to what you had before.

Thats what I always do ;)

My question is because I want to use the modified osCommerce files and database for new installations. What I want to do is a new installation, copy the updated files over this installation and update the database with the extra tables etc. needed for the added contributions.

What I do not whant to do is overwrite the (configuration)files needed for this new installation to run.

Here is how I usually do this - create an empty set of folders (make a copy of oscommerce and delete the files out of the folders.) Keep only modified files and contributions in this master modification folder set. You can then FTP/copy this over a default set of folders.

The name of the configure files is configure.php. You would not want to copy those since they are specific to each shop.
