Graveyard666 Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 We do all our credit card orders offline as we have a retail store with a physical machine. But even with that we got muffed out of $500 a couple weeks ago, we just found out last Thur with a letter from our bank. The surpsing thing is, all the address and stuff was verified. It said MATCH OK but we're still out :( We were shipping the product to ISRAEL, we did 3 transactions totalyl around $500 Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to use like Verified by Visa or the Mastercard SecureCard but process the credit cards offline. I saw the one contrib from someone Cardinal but you need an online merchant for that particular contrib to work. I couldn't find out any info on Visa or MC's website if you need an online merchant or not to use their programs. thought maybe someone here has an idea jeff
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I know that some folks call the bank to confirm availability of funds on questionable orders . . . A pain, but worth $500. -jared

Just a thought, some hardware based merchant accounts also offer you access to an online POS terminal at little or no extra cost. Some of those offer the option to use the Verified by Visa and Mastercard SecureCard systems. So, you might check with your merchant account provider and ask if they offer that. hth Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. ♥toyicebear Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 The best choice is to get a separate merchant account and a payment gatway for online processing. Because the use of Verified by Visa and Mastercard securcode relies on the fact that the customer has to input his/hers secret online pin code , kinda like they do when witdrawing from an ATM, as well as the cc number and cvv digits. That is interesting and now that you mention I recall that. I was going off of junk mail I get about merchant accounts. Since I am happy with the one I've got, I haven't looked too close, just their bullet points. I'll have to read the next one a little closer to see how they explain their connection with those programs because it isn't something you could actually do with a manual POS. (shouldn't take long, it seems like I get at least one offer every week) Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database.
