Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Hi all I made a site for a client a few months ago, and all has been well.... until now. I recieved an email from the client a few days ago: Got a bit of a problem with creating orders. It may be a one off (hopefully) and you may not be able to re-produce but can you maybe take a look so it doesn?t happen again and maybe tidy up order 2nd order. See orders 1377 & 1378 Ordered by 2 different people but some details (customer name etc & email) have been taken from 1377 and slapped onto 1378. Customer of 1378 saw address for 1377 and 1377 got 2 emails for both orders. Very odd? Two people are basically making orders but parts are getting slapped on to the next order, for no apparent reason. Is this to be expected with high volume orders, or is it a bug? Any advice would be most appreciated.

But i believe i removed the pwa link.
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I've just taken a look myself at this problem - it is most strange. Two orders will come in - one is fine, but the immediate next one has the previous customers "Customer Details" but will then have a completely different billing and shipping address - as if the proper customer of this 2nd order is getting over written by the previous customers details. It's merging 2 orders together. But it's happening ever 1 in 30 or so orders - but i cant work out at all why it would be happening. Has this ever happened and can anyone help me out to show me where to look for where things could be going wrong?
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Sorry to bombard the thread with posts of my own but i found something else out as well. For these 2 instances where the orders are getting merged (it's happened twice so far) - the 2 times where the billing address is different to the main customer name/address, the billing address name hasnt been a registered customer i.e. they dont exist in the database when i look in "Customers" and look for their surname. (and this is why i am thinking maybe as their details arent getting stored to the system for whatever reason it is taking the previous order's customer name and log-in to compensate).... But - i dont have Purchase Without Account - so i dont know how they're getting through making an order and not registering...... or why every so often a customer will sign up but it wont successfully get saved in the customer database table - which is what is causing the merger/problem. So now the Customer Name/Address on invoice isnt taking through the real customers details (it's taking the previous customers details) and inserting that onto the invoice (when this rare error occurs). So that's totally messed up as well - it disregards the actual customer address when the error occurs, and uses the last person to orders customer details.
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 This appears to be a major known bug: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/bugs,1...mer+information But its been closed - if it got solved can any one share the information?
Guest Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Do you have the spider sessions enabled? It could explain the problem. Make sure you restrict sessions generated when spiders visit your shop. Its in the osc admin panel->Configuration->Sessions Install the osc upgrade from www.oscommerce.com in case incorrect sessions are stored in your dbase.

I've done some reading on this, but apparently MSN works different to the other spiders and through this search engine some session results do filter through (which the oscommerce system doesnt block). Apparently there's some code for a fix to the msn problem but i dont know where/how to use it. (i did implement that spider option as well just to make sure).
