Hi, I'm installing differetnt contributions that says to edit some files. They always refer to the linenumber in that file, but when I'm in my texteditor, I don't see that there is any line number information, and therefore I have to search through the whole text to find the lines I'm looking for.

is there a way to see theese lines? Or do I have to install a different texteditor? If yes, some suggestions for a free one?

Thanks:-)

try quanta or phpeditor but if you're looking for a cool editor, try dreamweaver mx 2004 or 8.

enjoy for your coding and goodluck

Notepad++ is great, easy and free! By the way, don't always count on those line numbers to be exact, especially once you have already added a Contrib or two. use the search feature and be careful to find the exact match. Many pieces of code are only slightly different.

Text Pad is a good (free) plain text editor which will give you line numbers, Find In Files, Compare Files etc.
