goaty Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Something strange. Whenever I click a link on my site, I can see myself in the 'Who's Online' portion of the wite. However, another "person" is always there at the same url with a last click time difference of only 1-4 seconds. The IP address is 66.249.65.202 which if you do a reverse lookup turns out to be crawl-66-249-65-202.googlebot.com. No matter where I go on my site, this IP follows me lagging behind my times only by a few seconds. I have no problem with Google indexing my site, but this does not appear to be the normal googlebot spider. In my logs, it looks like this 66.249.65.202 - - [16/Dec/2005:09:12:20 -0800] "GET /crystal-fetish-c-41.html?osCsid=6967b71f4536c679dbb30fd153083ee4 HTTP/1.1" 200 24503 "-" "Mediapartners-Google/2.1" As you can see, it gets a session. Im guessing that the Mediapartners-Google/2.1 is the user-agent name. Adding the proper strings in the spiders.txt file does not stop this bot from getting a session. Now the fun part, the bot appears to be inheriting my session. The only way I can figure this out is if my Adds by Goooogle links, when they refresh on a new page, cause this bot to follow wherever I go thus inheriting my session from the links that I click. If this is truely what is happening, how can I stop it? If I'm wrong about this, what's going on? -John
Guest Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 that's the adsense bot. don't worry about it. it scans every part of your site looking for text to serve you relevant ads. it looks at whatever one of your visitor does and it doesn't send any url's to the regular googlebot to index now, if you DON'T have adsense on your site... there is something odd going on ;)
