Paypal timeout issue in Direct Payment option

Anyone ever encounter this? I've scoped the forums for hours and have not seen this topic brought up. If a customer wants to pay without signing up for or logging into a paypal acct, everything works great until the last part (submission). Then, an error message says that the session has timed out. It doesn't matter how fast I work or how many times I do it or how many computers I do it from. If I clear the browser temp files, cookies and history and try again, it works. But most customers won't think to do this, so we lose sales.

Please, anyone with any ideas?
