Replace the middle text with large image?

Hi, I'd like to remove the following text in still showing in the top middle of the main page:

 

" What's New Here?

Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?"

 

and replace with a info box which can insert either images or text or both within the box area above the preset "New Products" info box.
