I would also add to or change the text to your main page often so when they do come back they are seeing it and stay longer. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Guest
Do I need to add any more code to the site? I found a site that pretends it a spider and it reckons my page redirects, and then stops scanning, is this true, I cant see it redirecting, and it shouldnt be, Also what sort of text should be on front page, should it have links, should it be in a certain font? Do you know of anywhere where I can find the best key words to use for my site. www.extremefantasy.co.uk Cheers John

You could just pick a cat and write a couple paragraphs about it and then rotate through them all. One thing I noticed is that you are using your product model number for the name of you product. That seems a waste of the ultimage seo contribution. If you look at your urls they have the product number in them when really what you want is something that describes what your product is. For example item dg-3494 nobody is going to be searching for a dg-3494 but someone may well be searching for a Microfiber dress with lace-up front. What you want showing up on the search engines is product names that describe your product and that reflect what people are going to be typing in when they search. Guest
Surely if I am using header tags controller, haivng an item code as the product name will not matter, as the keywords for each products will be there still. As most products, I would use the description for the product name, but this is far too long, and rewriting names for everything would take weeks. I thought with the header tags module where I have to specify keywords for the product, I just add the description in there, so that would work or not?? Thanks John

Thanks John Something to keep in mind is that metatags are not nearly as important as good product descriptions and content especially in google. Some of your items do not even have a product description And your keywords seem to be the same for all your product pages. If your keywords are not found in the text of your page they will be given no weight at all and you may well take a hit for keyword spamming. I tested a few of your products with the following tool and the keywords are about the same no matter what the product. Being that there is very little difference in your pages from one product to the next you are making the likelyhood of getting all the pages indexed and ranked less. http://www.ranks.nl/tools/spider.html Content and incoming links are the two best things you can do for your site rankings. Your site has very little content. Lots of images but very little text. You need to beef up the content on your main page and add content to your product pages to seperate them from each other. Having the search term in the url does help page rankings!! Wherther or not it helps enough for you to make the changes, only you can say. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.
