Paypal loosing most sales (bilingual site, language problem)

We are based in the UK so our paypal account is in English/? but most of our customers are in France.

 

We are loosing a huge portion of our sales (up to 80%) because of a paypal language problem. If the french customer doesn't have an account, they click on create account and the screen switches to English, the customer abandons the transaction.

 

We've called paypal technical service but they say they don't support bilingual issues. It works in their sandbox but not in the live system.

 

Please anyone, do you have any idea of what we can do to set the language to stay in French? We are a fairly recent shop and can't afford to loose so many sales.

We have a similar issue

all our transactions are to english speaking expats on the contintent but at the payment stage the paypal browser swaps to German or French or whatever / based on the ISP of the user I sup[pose?

 

Any ideas or tips gratefully received
