I have uploaded all files and set permissions on all install files and directories to 777 and this is the error I get when I go to http://www.sitename.com/catalog/install/in...application.php

Warning: main(includes/functions/general.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/home/xxxxx/catalog/install/includes/application.php on line 22

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'includes/functions/general.php' (include_path='/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/home/xxxx/catalog/install/includes/application.php on line 22

I have searched the forum forever and couldn't find an answer to get through this first step. Please help!

Thanks!

Try just typing in www.sitename.com/catalog/install and see what happens. If not, post another link to the domain here and maybe someone can help

Double check and make sure that you have a install/includes/functions/general.php file. I'm not the swiftest on this php, but it appears as if the general.php file is missing or corrupt somehow. If it is there, you might try reloading a fresh copy of it.

I do have a general.php file in the correct directory as well as the application.php file in the correct place. I have reuploaded them and set permissions to 777 and still get the error message.

All files, except for the two configure.php files during installation, should have permissions of 644. The folders should have permissions of 755 or 777 - 777 for the 'images' and 'graphs' folders.

After the installation reset permissions on the two configure.php files to 644, 444, or 400 (depending on your server).

I tried this too and I am still getting the same exact results.
