Shopping Cart emptied when going to contact_us.php

Whenever I goto the front page, an about us page and the contact_us.php page, the cart contents are erased! What could cause this?

its probably the session id. Check the information box in catalog\includes\boxes\information.php when you added the various pages for aboutus, shipping etc that they use the tep_href_link function and not a hard-coded link.
