rommany
Hi Guys I have taken a look at my major keywords EG baby shoes and baby clothing with yahoo and msn and noticed that if i go to yahoo.co.uk / msn.co.uk im in the top 3 or 4 for most of my keywords but when i do a search for the same keywords in yahoo.com / msn.com i am nowhere. Is this because im a .co.uk site and if this is so would it be worth changing to a .com domain as i do sell worldwide not just in the UK? my partner said she thinks only the states use the .com ones but i can not see that being true. Kind regards
GraphicsGuy
I would expect that yahoo.co.uk / msn.co.uk do favor UK sites as a way to provide more regionally relevent search results. I've seen .com's from pretty much all over the world. But in my opinion, I sure wouldn't change to a .com since that would almost certainly lose you ranking in the UK search engines. You might consider hosting a second slightly different site under a .com. Focus the wording and visuals towards an international market. This would also help you focus the shipping and payment options towards international sales on that site. Likewise you could also focus the UK site more on towards the local UK market. You could probably simplify the management of the two by using one of the multi store contributions. Just a thought. Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database. Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.
