Some beginners questions

Hi, I am very new to OsCommerce (yesterday I made my first effort to install it) and I have some questions.

1. Is it possible to install Os on Microsoft IIS (just following the installation instructions and putting all the files in the wwwroot directory). Does IIS supports php?

2. I was downloading phpmyadmin how this is installed (I can't find any exe)?

3. Do I need to know php in order to install the Os Commerce?

4. Where can I find the best documentation (for domies) on the OsCommerce?

5. Is it possible to copy an installed OsCommerce shop (FTP down and up) and than sort the read write execute perditions).

Thanks

Amir

1..It is possible to install osCommerce on IIS, but it's easier if the server is Apache based and not Windows.

2. It depends on the download of phpmyadmin which you tried. Some are self-extracting (.exe) files, others are zip files which you first have to unzip.

3. You don't need to know PHP to start, but you do need to be willing to learn a little about using PHP.

4. Go to www.oscommerce.com and download the PDF file of the Knowledge Base for osCommerce MS2. This will give you loads of info.

5. Yes, if you have osCommerce working on a web server on your computer then you can FTP the files to a domain, and edit the configuration files. You'll also need to backup the local database via your local phpmyadmin, then access phpMyAdmin on your domain, create a new blank database and then import the contents of your local backup into it.
