Show product id, import existing id's, create new id's

Hi

 

Ok, I want to import an existing product database and I want to maintain my exisintg product IDs.

 

The software that I currently use has a handy on/off for creating IDs. When I add a product it automatically assigns the next available ID. However, if I want to manually change an ID, I can disable the tool and then edit. In the short term I am going to run the two along side each other and for obvious reasons I want to keep the IDs consistent.

 

So, couple of things. Can I show the product ID within my product table and within the actual product page.

 

When I import (probably going to use easypopulate) can I maintain my current IDs. The format that they are in at present are FDJ123 where FDJ is fixed.
