hi,

i'd really appreciate some honest feedback on my first osCommerce site please, all feedback gratefully received. really impressed with osCommerce.

the site has quite a few contributions installed and some look and feel changes too.

it is work in progress but will be going live on january 3rd selling triathlon and cycling products, i've just added a few example products at the moment.

feel free to place an example order by cheque if you like, only the paypal payment service is live at present.

(all data will be removed prior to launch)

site is http://www.triandbike.co.uk/shop/

username: tester

password: badabing

(you will need to enter username/password for both http and https pages)

many thanks in advance,

dave

nice colors... good graphics, but i think the background graphic extends too far into the main content... either shorten the fade out or move down the main content..

other than that.. the stock graphics in the corner next to the page title GOT TO GO... they dont match your theme...

its not a bad site... kinda basic... i htink you need some extra content... like why you should shop here... maybe a weekly column about fitnes... blah blah.. you get the idea...

just my .02...

hi - I agree about the long graphic - you keep wondering why all the photos are in boxes - if the back ground were plain that wouldn't catch your eye at all.

I was confused that the items weren't in the right order - you appear to be a biking shop - yet the first items listed were for swimmers (you can change the order around)

I thought it'd be nice to read something catchy and inspirational on the front - something that makes me want to dust down my old racer and get cycling! (...that said my bike and I are a little rusty!) After that opening header you could begin to advertise your stuff.

Don't take my advice, I can't even see my website!

Confused!!!

a few paragraphs on the first page explaining about the store (by the welcome bit) and some training guides, bike setup/maintenance type info?

the photos should all be transparent gif's soon (no boxes then), though i take the point about the long graphic, might shorten it.

the shop is for triathlon (swim, bike and run) but it's called tri and bike. cycling will initally have the most product/brand coverage. (though not as the site seems at this minute with 1 product in the bike category)

good point, will do

thanks for the feedback thus far. any more is welcome...

I like the site. looks very nice.....

I changed the catagories menu to a DHTML menu style.

I feel it looks far better the the standard osCommerce layout.

Have a look at the catagories list on www.sense-pcs.co.uk to get a better understanding of what i mean...

neat, less clicks and page refreshes to navigate the menu. i might try it out.

thanks,

I think the store would look better centered, instead of aligned left. I looks off balance otherwise, especially on a large screen.

it's now centered, looks much better thanks.

by the way, the site is now LIVE. thanks for the feedback.

regards,

dave
