Can someone please help the Idiot, Yup ME !!

Hello Every,

I hope this is only complicated to me but I messed up something pretty good here. Here's what I did, and I know its stupid !!

I wanted to put a paypal logo and a link to our ebay feedback using logos so they'd be spotted fairly easily in a box on the right side column but I couldnt figure out how to add a fresh box.

Here's the stupid part, I took a box that already existed the products notification box and changed the code to add the logos. It shows up as just logos on the right side and when you click on them the ebay logo takes you to the feedback page on ebay for us. When you click on the paypal logo it brings up the box which kind of explains paypal, for people who are unfamiliar with it. So thats okay, but.

When you put an email address in the tell a friend box, its comes up with product not found, and thats weird, I didnt do anything to the tell a friend.php code.

So I've been reading the boards and knowledge area about adding new boxes and having been playing with it for hours now, I tried to just add a new box to the right side and they didnt come out to good either. First I got a box to show up but where the header title was it showed up like this HEADING_TITLE_EBAY_FEEDBACK, very very tacky, plus it has a space in it to type, I dont need that, geez !! I copied and pasted the tell a friend format of coding into a new file and titled it ebay feedback. I figured if I could just make a new box, and put the two logos there, get rid of my products notifications box all together that would fix my logos in a box problem and maybe my tell a friend box would work again.

If anyone can shed some light on what the best thing to do would be I'd greatly appreciate it. My head is ready to explode, I've been sitting here reading and playing with the codes, starting over and changing and starting over for almost 4 hrs and nothing is working.

Luckily its my teststore I'm totally destroying.

Make a copy of includes/boxes/information.php (renamed to your new box)

Edit the links inside it to the links you wish to have.

Go to includes/languages/english.php, and copy and paste the entry for the Information Box heading and the file listings, then edit them to what you want. Do the same for any other language files you wish to display it in e.g. spanish.php and german.php

For example, in includes/column_left.php enter:

require(DIR_WS_BOXES . 'new_box_name.php');

If these links are external to your website then you don't have to do anything else - except to make sure that any links to images downloaded from other websites are https links if you use either a shared or full ssl on your website - else you'll get errors when someone switches to an https page.

If you wish to add new pages and add them to a new box then that's a whole different story!

Thanks Vger,

I got the new box to work fine, however. I still have a problem, when I type in an email address in the tell a friend box, hit enter, the shoppingcart/product_info.php page comes instead with no product found.

Here is my tell a friend.php file, does anyone see anything wrong with it that would cause it to do that, I'm so lost on this one now. I see stuff there from a contribution I had someone do for me does that make a difference ??

this problem sounds like there is a problem with cookies

check you catalog/includes/configure.php make sure the cookies domain is set also your server information

make sure you disable force cookies in the admin section
