I wonder if anyone can help me?

I received this e-mail from a customer today - quote " can log in with my email address and password, just fine. I then get to the welcome screen. However, once i click on a department or item, it takes me back to the sign in page again, and cant get to see anything. This happens time and time again." unquote

This is the third customer in as many weeks reporting the same problem. I dont know how many others are not reporting it.......

In the meantime I AM getting other orders.

I am quite an amateur at this and really dont know where to start with this one.

Any ideas anyone?

I am having the same problems myself. If you clear your browser cache/temp internet files and cookies the error seems to go away. This is what I have been telling my customers and it seems to work for them 90% if the time. It is a pain in the butt though.

I would like to know if there is a fix for the problem. Also it only seems to occur when you have search engine friendly urls enabled.

Any help on this would be great, does the update solve this small but common problem?

Please help us out oscommerce vets.

Ed,

The built in Search Engine Friendly URLs have never worked right. I highly recommend turning that off and use a contrib.

As for your joint problem, I would check your session settings as well as the config files. There are many threads where people have recommended settings for these.

If I disable the search engine friendly in the admin and install a contrib will it affect the way my urls look or will they be the same as the built in script makes them look? Also will a contrib effect my custom setting?

Thx for the follow up

Ed,

Yes, it will probably change the URL. Which will temporarily cause a problem with search engine placement, if that's where you were going. I'm not sure about your custom settings.

Well thats where I was going..... I dont want my urls to change. If there is a contrib that makes it the same as the default one, that would rock. anything you could suggest?

Thats neat your name is Ed 2... lol

Ed,

I work in an office with about 4 other Ed's. First time in my professional career. We are quietly planning a coup!

I use Ultimate SEO URLs. You could look in the code, see how the URLs are constructed, and see if you can tweak it so that it matches your current URLs.

Good luck,

ed
