Whos Online not showing whats in cart

Hi there,

 

I'm not sure when it happened, but recently when I've been viewing who's online the 'whats in their cart' section has been blank (it used to work ok).

 

I now have it working again by changing my session settings in configure.php in admin. They were set to be handled by mysql and I have put them back to the default.

 

I'm wondering if

 

a. the who's online stopped working when I changed it to 'mysql' instead of the default setting, (would changing this cause that?)

 

or

 

b. the recent mysql update which caused this error '1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax' stopped the listing of orders working properly also effect the who online shopping cart?

 

Any ideas
