Creating a "January Sale" section

Hi,

 

I'd like to create a January Sale page in my store. I can create a new Sale category in the Admin area and move the sale products into here but how do I then show old prices crossed out with new sale prices in red displaying alongside these? I've seen this being done, but i can't work out how!!

 

I'd also like to give the whole page a more "salesy" look and feel - any idea how I can apply an individual style to this section only (without it applying to all other product categories.

 

I've had a look through the posts and couldn't find what I was looking for - any help / contributiuons you could point me towards would be greatly appreciated.
