How can I use gift certificates without email notification?

I am installing an osCommerce site based on the loaded6.15 version, so it has the gift voucher mod already installed. I read the faq pages about using the gift voucher, and this method of sending an email to the recipient won't work for my customers (many of them don't know the email address of the person receiving the gift). I want a system where the gift certificate is a product, with a price. There will be a certificate for $25, 50, 75, etc.. The customer who buys it receives a nice card from the store, with our logo and the amount of the certificate. They would give the certificate and the card to the recipient in person. The recipient should then be able to use that amount to purchase something at our store. No email will be involved.

How can I do that? The only way I can think of is to do this manually, i.e. the person using the gift certificate will email us (using the contact us page) telling us what product they want, where to ship it, the value of the gift certificate they have and who bought it for them. They can also provide us with credit card info (may be in a phone call) if the item they are buying is more expensive than the value of the certificate, so I can charge them for the difference.

But this will be very tedious, and I'm wondering if the gift voucher mod has something built in that allows this somehow, without manual input of each purchase.
