The Whole Tax line does not show during checkout

Even as an experienced user of OSC, I'm baffled by this tax problem. Gee, it seems there are tons of posts about tax problems.

During checkout, I'm expecting the summary to appear as follows:

Sub-Total: $42.00

California Sales Tax: $3.47

Flat Rate (Best Way): $5.00

Total: $50.47

However, the complete line for tax does not show, even though the cart knows the tax and adds it to the total as shown here:

Sub-Total: $42.00

Flat Rate (Best Way): $5.00

Total: $50.47

Therefore the tax tables must be correct, the zone is correct, there is a tax description, etc. and since the tax actually does appear in the total, OSC is calculating it and including it. Yet, it baffles me why the whole line does not appear. Of course it confuses the customer as to why the total does not sum up to the lines above it because they dont see the tax line displayed.

This cart scripts have NOT been modified in any way. I've even gone in and reviewed contents of the database tables as compared to the default installation which works correctly.

Any ideas from a genius is welcome. It's got to be someone smarter than me. After 3 hours, I give up ;-)

Do you have it switched on in Admin under Modules / Order Total ?

Your online success is Paramount.

Okay, so you are a genius, and I'm not. Actually, yes I did have it switched on to show the tax line in the modules area, but you still solved it for me because you drew my attention back to that area. The "sort order" had some really bazzar looking character in the field. When I cleared it, the line started showing.

I guess I should have come here earlier instead of spending hours nosying around in osc.

Cheers, (and regards to one of my favorite cities there)
