Integration with Existing Inventory Database

I understand that osCommerce will have a database abstraction in version 3.0. At that time, will I be able to connect osCommerce to an existing inventory database? Specifically, the store I'm consulting for uses ADP Lightspeed, which uses Postgresql on Windows... within Cygwin -- I guess they released the product before Postgresql released their native Windows version. Anyway, I'd like to be able to use osCommerce as the web front end to their Lightspeed backend. Will this be possible in version 3? Thanks for any insights.
