Andreas2003 Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Hi there, I have a question regarding stylesheets and the look of oscommerce. I want to change the font type on my osc-site, that is used / shown in the users' browser. For example the standard font type is VERDANA. And I want to change it to ARIAL. Is that possible by uploading the new font type to my server? And only by changing the stylesheet to the new font type? Thanks in advance, Regards Andreas
rabbitseffort Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 the font the user sees will depend on whether or not they have that font, arial is pretty safe and 99% of the people will have it., it is good to use 3, so if the user doesnt have the first one, then by defualt it will look for the other 2 in order. Hope this helps! What's really interesting is the mystery. If you seek the mystery instead of the answer, you'll always be seeking. I've never seen anybody really find the answer -- they think they have, so they stop thinking. But the job is to seek mystery, evoke mystery, plant a garden in which strange plants grow and mysteries bloom. The need for mystery is greater than the need for an answer. --Ken Kesey"

ozcsys Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Guys, how do i change the font for the whole site. I know its in the style sheet but what am i looking for. any help would be most appreciated There is not one class in the stylesheet that covers the whole site. You will need to change all the classes in the stylesheet to make them all the same. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
Andreas2003 Posted December 11, 2005 Author Posted December 11, 2005 But you cannot change the complete font, as far as I have learned, from Verdanan to whatever font you like. You can set the font size, or make it italic or bold, but thats all, if you want that your customers can read your site.

Guest Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 There is not one class in the stylesheet that covers the whole site. You will need to change all the classes in the stylesheet to make them all the same. This is the answer. Open stylesheet.css and wherever you see a font name then change it but if the end user does not have that font installed on their pc then a default font will be used possibly destroying your layout. I have found a page that explains how to embed a font in a web page 2 Second Google Search but it don't look easy. Don't forget there are downsides. You are going to increase the time it takes each page to download and if you use too many different fonts or just use fonts that are too far from the ordinary you will put potential customers off.
