bad_lemming Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 My Webpage I have been working hard at making the site streamlined and friendly. Any ideas on why I haven't been able to get people to actually transact? I would appreciate any help you can give, I have posted before when I first was done, but I have made some significant changes, and would like a re-eval please.
rommany Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Hello derrick Well done, your site looks nice and clean but! and this is only my opinion but i find your site boring, within the first 10 seconds nothing catched my eye that would have keeped me there. I no expert and others could say different and im not 100% sure what you need to make it better, but adding payment logo and maybe a few side boxes with something going on would not go a miss. Anyway as i said at the start well done and good luck : )
bad_lemming Posted December 9, 2005 Author Posted December 9, 2005 Thank you for the response. I had tried to think of some decent side boxes to use, but I couldn't think of one that made sense. Thank you for the input, please keep them comming
OrlandoBonsai Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I would have to say that the limited items is one of the downfalls. If a potential customer can browse your entire inventory in such a short period, chances are they won't be on your site long enough to get motivate to purchase. Do you know if you have traffic moving through your site?
Guest Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Agreed - excellent job on the site. Not many products, and very specific. Unless you have a very targetted marketing campaign, I would not expect high sales, even though the quality looks good and they are well presented. Quick feedback - but the cart seemed to have a couple of extra clicks - and asks for DOB. Do you really need the customers DOB? You can turn this off from the admin panel if not - one less thing to scare people when creating an 'account'.
Naegle Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I've seen your site a few months back when i was looking for layout ideas. I thought at that time the product line needs to be developed more. If you can't add more products, I'd recommend elaborating on the ones you have. Add additional pictures with the shirts on real people, as some people like to see the real thing (even if they're only T-shirts). Maybe you could find a unique way to do it that reflects the shirts humor instead of the old catalog manikin approach. Adding a little humor is a good way to catch peoples eye and pass the word to friends.
HSMagic Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Pretty much what they said. 5 T-Shirts seems to be the product line. You are either going to sell them or lose them within a few seconds.

One thing that you might want to change is the size in Kb of all your pictures. 600x600 pics of 362,000 kb is too much even on Dsl connections, imagine how long you have to wait if you're on 56K. And also the small ones are too big. Use photoshop and slim down all yor images. Outside links in signatures are not allowed!
bad_lemming Posted December 11, 2005 Author Posted December 11, 2005 Thanks, everyone for the input, and truly appreciate the compliments. I see some good things here I can do and some things I have been thinking of as well. The difficult part about this store is that I am trying to accomplish it on a shoestring budget. This makes an increased product offering more difficult as I was hoping to generate a little revenue to support an increase. It is also somewhat hard to get actual pictures that don't look snapshotish without spending some time/money. Even so I will try to come up with creative ways to accomplish, but if you guys have any ideas I am all ears :-D Thanks again.
bad_lemming Posted December 12, 2005 Author Posted December 12, 2005 Also, is it your guys perception that, the longer one stays on the site, the more likely they are to buy? (I figured the inverse was true, but wasn't too sure about this).
radders Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 The site looks very good. I still wouldn't deal with you because of the PO Box number and lack of a telephone number (having been burnt before) although you do come across as honest and hard-working. The main issue ss the others have said is that the designs are few in number and whilst fairly attractive are not 'must have' items. I thought the t-shirt images were good. Where did you get the outline image from? I have seen ones which use two or three shades to create an even more realistic effect but there wasn't very much difference.
MarthaD Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Add a PWA contribution to start. The fact that I HAVE to create an account is a no no. Something about your site leaves me feeling like something is missing.... Your header is not very exciting either. Does nothing to say "buy here"... And of course the main problem you face is only 5 items. If I dont want one of those few items - I'm gone and I wont be back. On the bright side you did do a very nice job of keeping the layout simple and clean.
radders Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 PWA is unlikely to have any effect on the numbers buying if my site is anything to go by. It is good to have but it is not the answer. Maybe all the visitors are from these forums :-)
Guest Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 My first impression is...looks terrific! Very professional! Second impression is...that's it? That's all there is for sale? I'd like to throw my 2-cents in here regarding installing Purchase Without Account. Seriously...and maybe I just don't shop on-line enough...I'd like someone to give me an example of a legitimate, reputable on-line seller that does not require account creation before making a purchase. Seems like I have an account to access everything. eBay, my bank, Amazon, you name it. Your problem is not the lack of PWA...you don't have any inventory. Forget 5 shirts...you need 500 more. Andrea
tvieira24 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Great looking site, love the colors and the sheer simplicity. I'd work on the amount of product you have up, most people want funny smart ass shirts that make them feel original but the site itself is great. Has a real simple feel and very easy to navigate.

I just visite your site and added a couple of products to the shopping cart and when I went to the checkout page I got a page not found error. That is a killer.
