Product Attributes

I have been working away with the product attributes of my online store and the same issue always seems to come up that I cannot explain. I wanted to add about 10 attributes in 1 drop down menu for 1 product. Adding them is fine but I wanted to have them listed in a certain order, so I figured out that you add the bottom ones in the list first and the one you want to display first when the page loads you add last. This worked for a few of my products but often following this system OScommerce would place a newly added attribute in the middle of my list out of the Product ID order. It would list #s 701, 702, 703, 704, 705, 706 properly and then all of a sudden it would put 707 down in front of 701 for some reason. It would repeat this same problem over and over again frustrating me to no end. :( I've tried many different ways of adding the attributes to get it to order correctly but it always seems to stop organizing midway through the list.

Also, (it may or may not be related) but the product IDs will continue to increase in size even after deleting attributes or adding new ones... I had a couple of hundred to start with then I decided to remove them all and start over because of the above issue and it doesnt reset to Product ID 1. It continues from the old numbers even though they do not exist anymore. For example, Instead of having Product ID 1 with a brand new attribute with no others existing it is Product ID 701.

If anyone has experienced this same issue or knows a way to tweak the attributes please let me know. I've tried numerous ways to solve this issue myself to no avail. Thank you for any support you can give.

For those experiencing this same issue i've found a way to get the drop down lists to display in the order you want. Its a lot of extra work especially if you have to do a lot of them like I do but this is what you do:

Say you have 12 items to list in a certain order. Add 1 of those items 12 times. (ex. the feature "none" will show up 12 times) Then just edit in order to display the correct ones. Its twice the work but if you have large lists that order incorrectly this is a solution.
