Newbie question

Hi all, I'm sure this is a very basic question, but I just can't find an aswer :-(

I can go through all the installation steps, and everything seems to be fine until I click on the Administration Tool button on the 'The configuration was successful!' page.

Then it takes me to http://www.mysite.org/oscommerce/catalog/i...admin/index.php

Which is not a functioning web address. If I edit it so it reads:

http://www.mysite.org/oscommerce/catalog/admin/index.php

I get to the configuration page, i.e. this happens if I take out the 'www.mysite.org/oscommerce/catalog/install/', but all the links on this page have the same problem.

I think this is arising from step 4, where you fill in:

WWW Address

Webserver Root Directory:

HTTP Cookie Domain:

HTTP Cookie Path:

It seems to be the part that I enter in the first of these fields that is causing the trouble - if I leave it blank, the URL from the Administration Tool button almost works, in that it just has a an etxtra few slashes and a colon.

Any help is much appreciated, and sorry if is this is commonly asked and answered.

Thanks!

By Stage 4 those addresses should have been filled in for you.

When you run the install the only things you should need to input yourself are:

DB_Server, which is usually localhost

MySQL Password - the one you chose or which your host set up for you

MySQL User Name - as above

Database Name - the name of the blank database you created

Try running the install and leaving all settings alone except for the ones I've listed.

Thanks for the help! Turns out my webhost has a one click install option for OS commerce, and now everything is working. I'm a bit at a loss though - I had already tried leaving both options as they were, and all the one-click install instructions asked me to change (that I had not tried already) was the cookie path.... Anyway, everything is good now!
