jhuedder Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Hi, my latest OSC-installation doesn't send order-mails to the shop-owner. When I configure an extra order-mail then I get this mail twice! The installation is on SuSE 9.1 with Plesk 7.1.7. I already tried several configurations (SMTP vs. sendmail, LF vs. LFCR, HTML vs. plain text) but without any success in this issue. Any help appreciated! Thanks, Joerg _______________________________ Joerg Hueddersen [email protected]
TENCENTS Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Same problem here. Tried everything. It's got something to do with 'localhost' and 'smtp_port' Have you tried mailing one of your customers from the customer maintenance form in admin. This should give you the same error message I'm getting. It's a good clue - I just don't know where the hell to begin. I think the order confirmation tries to send the email but doesn't check (or report) the error, so it looks like everything is squeaky-clean, but no mail ever gets sent. Aaaaaarrghhh !!!! TENCENTS Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Eureka !!! - after spending the whole damned day on it. IF YOU'VE GOT OSC EMAIL PROBLEMS (and you've tried EVERYTHING), try this: open the PHP.INI file (in the root folder) - you need to edit this file! search for 'SMTP' on the line 'SMTP = localhost' change localhost to your domain name, eg. www.site.com (no quotes). For newbies (like me) - localhost isn't some magical number or secret-password, it's your site's name - I spent the whole day to learn that !! (slap!) - it was like flicking a switch. EMAIL IS NOW 100% Thanks to Harald's email tester contribution it made short work of testing and probably stopped me from putting my fist through the monitor. Never underestimate the power of stupid people, especially in groups.
