tyrant Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Hi folks. I am working on my payment system but I am having problems. (Note: Pay Pal Moduel already installed on OSCommerce install) When a payment is made via paypal - the payment is made with no problems and emails dished out but it dosnt tell me what the product ordered is. In addition when you go to Orders, it appears blank. Even if you then go to that user .. the order is still blank. Why isnt it registering that the product has been paid for ? I hope i dont have as many problems with my Credit Card Merchant.
Guest Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 funny i have just had an email from a client this morning regarding the very same thing Has Paypal been playing with its IPN ?
Guest Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 My clients problem turned out to be, When the customer paid thru Paypal if they don't use the "return to merchant" button then the order isn't sent back to the shop I need to see if you can change the settings with in Paypal account to automatically send the customer back
h2oguyofnh Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 This problem seems possible even if you have the change made at paypal. I think it probably happens more with persons who don't already have a paypal account.
irish80ca Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Same thing is happening with me. I just did my first test and received no notice of a product being purchased, no reports on my Admin page, and as a customer I received no email confirming purchase. Anyone figure out how to fix this?

Guest Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Does anyone know what IPN settings you should have in your Paypal account, for the Paypal payment processor to return the client to shop I know that some scripts don't like it and require it turned off I have a client billing software that requires me to have it switched off so the script works but then this has the same problem if clients do not complete the process however my billing system does collect the details and payments from them so its not the end of the world for me But with ocommerce there is no record of the order in admin nor are any email send out side of Paypal so as an admin all you get is a Paypal receipt saying a payment has been made for X amount but Not what it was for or who from ( other than client Paypal email address) I assume others have had this problem and have found a way around it or do you put up with the odd lost order?

Scour the forums for Paypal "no order" etc. I think there are contributions that will track a customer's shopping cart (try http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,1688 - Recover Cart Sales ). I may do that myself. ck
andyd64 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 I am just setting up my site with a host and having the same problem that the return to merchant from paypal does not work correctly and does not register the sale. On returning to the site It takes me to the login page as if I am not logged in, but as soon as I click on anywhere else I am still logged in and my cart still has the goods in. However I have the original files I uploaded of my site on my local PC and have just done exactly the same order through PAYPAL and it works fine. Returning to the site stating that 'your order has been processed' Differences between the two sites - shared SSL switched on and not sure of the versions of software. I have now switched off the shared SSL on my host site and the Paypal worked. Can anyone help further?
tyrant Posted December 8, 2005 Author Posted December 8, 2005 The problems seems systemic with numerous people reporting it as a fault. Perhaps an admin could help resolve this issue for the confused masses. :-"

andyd64 Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 Do not know if it was a glich with paypal but I tried this and it now appears to work. Info from another thread.... Went to my PayPal account - under Profile selected Selling Preferences / Website Payment Preferences and Turned auto return ON. For the return URL (osCom shops) I entered: http://www.yourdomain.com/catalog/checkout_process.php Had to upgrade my paypal account to see the option first. Do not know why when I hit the return to merchant button in paypal the first time it did not work unless it was because the account needed to be premier or business. I will post update if not okay after further testing. Andy
Aamir Posted December 8, 2005 Posted December 8, 2005 :D It works!!! http://www.yourdomain.com/catalog/checkout_process.php Thanks for this! Aamir
