.htaccess, .htpasswd -- question

Hi,

I went to google search for instruction in doing the .htaccess and .htpasswd. Since my hosting company, Godaddy said they do not have Directory Management Feature for Linux server.

Alright, I have used the guide from http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess3.shtml. and uploaded both files to catalog/admin directory. But when I try and enter my username/password to enter the protected area, it still wouldn't let me in.

I used Filezilla FTP both files to the server. According to the guide, when upload the files, must be in ASCII not in BINARY. How do I know which one I uploaded.??

Any hints????

If your path in the .htaccess file is not correct, then the procedure won't work. Your ftp program should upload it in the correct format. You can force the mode but that is usually not necessary.
