Database Backup Manager problem

Recommended Posts

I installed OSC for a client where the previous hosting company went bust just as he's coming into the Christmas busy period. Managed to get everything working in under 24 hours with 500+ products, but then tried to backup the database. The Database Backup Manager says that the Backups directory doesn't exist, but it does, and the permissions on it are 777.

I don't know if it's connected, but I inadvertently re-uploaded the default configure.php file earlier, and suspect it might have something to do with this. I've added in the

define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN . 'backups/');

line to the file.

I am also having problems with the Shipping, Order Totals and Payment modules, with similar symptoms on the screen when I press "Install" for them. Don't know if this is connected. Can anyone help, please?

Thanks very much.

Most likly they are connected. The problem is probably the path setup in your admin/includes/configure.php file. If the links in the admin are not working try look at the url in the address bar and you may be able to see where the problem is by seeing where osC thinks your files are as opposed to where they actually are. If not try posting your file here minus the database login info and someone may be able to see the problem.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

Thanks for that - I've tried changing that, and haven't managed to get anywhere. The following is my admin/includes/configure.php:

<?php

define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://212.67.202.50');

define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', '');

define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'false'); // secure webserver for catalog module

define('DIR_FS_DOCUMENT_ROOT', '/catalog/'); // where the pages are located on the server

A couple of things I see

define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/catalog/admin/'); // absolute path required

Should probably just be admin as you already have the catalog defined

define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/catalog/admin/'); // absolute pate required

FS is file server and should be defined along the lines of /home/username/catalog/admin

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/catalog/'); // absolute path required

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/catalog/'); // absolute path required

Again FS is file server and should be defined along the lines of /home/username/catalog/admin

define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://212.67.202.50');

Do you have a static ip address? If not this should probably be your domain instead

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I've got my modules sorted now, but still can't sort out the backup. I'll do it through my hosting company's backup facility until I can make it work.

Thanks very much.

Sorry - I spoke too soon! Spotted a typo and your suggestions worked, apart from the one on DIR_WS_ADMIN.

Thanks ever so much.
