on-disk
Ok, I'm losing sales left and right and I don't know what the issue is so I can correct it. Seems to go something like this... Happy customer comes to On-Disk.com and finds the CD of their dreams (lol) They check-out and all seems to be going well till they head over to Paypal.com for the final processing. Then they are gone and all I have is a ghost of a sale sitting in my "Preparing [PayPal IPN]" Sales Catergory. Sometimes the customer has tried it more than once and has the same problem and I have more than one order from the same person that didn't make it past "Preparing [PayPal IPN]" The reason I'm having such troubles ending this problem is that at least 75% of the Paypal orders go on through and we get paid. If they were all broken, that would be one thing, but for such a high percentage to be dying... Any Ideas?
Chris Dunning
My idea...ditch PayPal. I've spent a lot of time going round and round with PayPal for various clients. Their IPN system can be a bit dodgy. Quote Chris Dunning osCommerce, Contributions Moderator Team Please do not send me PM! I do not read or answer these often. Use the email button instead! Well I suggest some different remedy 1)Apart from dumping all details in data base as per IPN flow also dump all the post details that you got from paypal into a file.So on losing order due to some technical snug will allow you a chance to see the log file where the post details were dump. This will help in recovring the order plus knowing why the bug is coming. 2)Check in the code what is the value of return url on success and cancel url. Also check the ipn URL and test that the flow of process is ok. 3)See what is the time for response set to.and increase it to 30 seconds. on-disk
Well at this point I'm probably going to go with suggestion #1 and dump paypal. Though I am going to send Satish's suggestion to my business partner/Unix Monkey. Right now, our average order is $9.01 (up from $6.97 in the last few months) so I have to really watch fees to be sure I'm not getting killed. Sales at On-Disk.com have been growing at a steady pace. Just a couple more active Developers via our Portal, and we should have the volume to justify a more traditional Merchant account. thanks for your help, Karlie
♥Vger
There are problems with the IPN module, but the default module works well enough provided that you sign up on the Pay Pal website for their Auto-Return feature - and specify the correct Return URL. You won't get cheaper fees for a start-up business than Pay Pal. Vger
