Advise On My Products Categories

I've opened up my split files in Excel and they are the way I added to them. Here is the problem I've noticed:

In the database, I have category named: Beautiful Collection Custom Ornamental Steel Doors

In the store and admin, it's listed: Beautiful Collection Custom Orna.

I have more categories truncated like that.., approximately 100 or so, and my questions are:

1. Should I reduce the characters length? I was reading max 30 somewhere. I'm not sure.

2. Do I have to have a description? I have item no#, price, quantity already.

Let's use a door, model no#AVI550. It's in the category Beautiful Collection

Is this right?....

The top category would be Doors = v_categories_name_1

The subcategory would be Beautiful Collection = v_categories_name_2

on the row for each door for that category? Right now I have about 36 Beautiful Collection Categories and each have a door in them, but it should be only one Beautiful Collection and 18 doors.

I'm using the complete attribute download. Once I get past the importing all my data, I'll work on the options.

Any help is appreciated

Can someone move this post to Easy Populate & Products Attributes, Easypopulate support thread http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=162244

I was replying to a post there. Don't know how the post ended here!

Thanks

What do you see when you open up the tep_database-pr2.2-CVS.pdf file that came with your osCommerce download?
