joconnell
Hi Folks, The host I'm using for a friends site has oscommerce as an option for a shopping cart and I was wondering if you thought it would be a suitable option for digital files? Pretty much I'd be using it to sell both individual songs an full albums in mp3 format. Would oscommerce be suitable for something like a cart which can provide a url or login name & password for people to retrive files once payment has gone through? Also does oscommerce handle the transaction or would it need to be linked into paypal or similar? Thanks for any thoughts, John

Thanks for any thoughts, John Well John, I run an mp3 download site so I would say, yes, it can be done. OsCommerce is ecommerce software and you can connect to a payment processor using contributions. But, you still need a payment processor to actually PROCESS your transactions. Ah excellent - So I can link it into something like paypal? How do the two communicate so that a password is generated after the transaction? I'm fairly good with most web and database things at a low level but did you find any major difficulties getting it up and running? Thanks for the help so far! John You'll of course have to sign up for Paypal... after that, you can go to the Contributions section: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions and download and install the PayPal Payment Module... all the instructions for installing the contribution will be in the download....
