SSL Setup?

Recommended Posts

I setup OScommerce on my site, all seems to be working ok but when I was going thru the install it asks if I have SSL/HTTPS (which I do) so I ticked it. However I guess there's something else I need to do for it to work.

Should I have installed it fully from my https area? Cos I just copied the files to a dir in httpdocs rather than httpsdocs. Can I have it half and half or should I delete it and start again?

Thanks! :)

If your hosting company has one of those stupid two folder systems - one for httpdocs and another for httpsdocs - then you need to duplicate all files/folders in the httpsdocs folder. Once you have things running correctly then you can delete the 'admin' folder from httpdocs - so that it only runs under https.

Remember that any changes you make to files will have to be copied to both folders (easier than trying to figure out which to update). The database is outside of all that.

Yeah as it turns out it does have one of them systems. So basically if I upload it all again to the httpsdocs folder it'll be ok.

Can I not just upload the secure bits to that or something?

And when you say changes I make, you don't mean like when I add new products I have to copy any uploaded files to both locations do you? :'(

New products get loaded into the database which is common to both. Image files and any changes to the php files need to be duplicated.

Your hosting company can fix this for you so don't don't have to go through all the hassle. Or get a different host.
