I use frontpage ftp to upload my websites, it does not have a chmod access. I am installing a new oscommerce and i am getting this message

New Installation

osCommerce Configuration

The following error has occurred:

The configuration files do not exist, or permission levels are not set.

Please perform the following actions:

cd /home/bris****/public_html/catalog/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

cd /home/bris****/public_html/catalog/admin/includes/

touch configure.php

chmod 706 configure.php

If chmod 706 does not work, please try chmod 777.

If you are running this installation procedure under a Microsoft Windows environment, try renaming the existing configuration file so a new file can be created.

How do i get it to work?

Thanks

Best bet is to use a ftp program that will let you chmod. Your other choice is to use the file manager in your hosting control panel to change permissions.

The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing.

Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems?

There are many very useful osC Contributions

Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here

BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

Yeah, I had the same problem...

It didn't work when I changed CHMOD to 706 but it works with CHMOD 777.

...and I use SmartFtp, which is truly Smart ...and FREE

Just don't forget to change from Binary Mode to Ascii Mode before you upload your files.

You can't miss them, there are some small green arrow buttons.
