Recommended Posts

I have just transferred web hosts. Downloaded files and uploaded in new host. Copied my sql database across.

Site runs perfectly but I get error with database backup_manager

It comes up with

Error: Backup directory does not exist. Please set this in configure.php.

I cant understand why if I copies the files this should happen because it doesnt happen on the old host?

Please help

Thanks

Paul

You have to create the backup directory. It's the same with every installation.

Local: Mac OS X 10.5.8 - Apache 2.2/php 5.3.0/MySQL 5.4.10 • Web Servers: Linux

Tools: BBEdit, Coda, Versions (Subversion), Sequel Pro (db management)

Create a sub-directory under your Admin directory and name it backups. Then, make sure your admin/includes/confige.php file points to it.

define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN . 'backups/');

You should be good to go.

OK I just did that but I am still getting the same error:

"Backup directory does not exist. Please set this in configure.php."

and the backup.php page also says:

"Database Backup Manager

Title Date Size Action

Backup Directory: /home/httpd/vhosts/taexalia.com/httpdocs/shop/adminbackups/ "

Is the problem with "adminbackups"?

I really appreciate your help, my server support keeps telling me it's all good and I know it isn't. They also tell me I should be able to see what customers have bought and I have no record of that anywhere :(

In your admin/includes/configure.php file make sure that the path to 'admin' ends with a trailing slash e.g. /shop/admin/

Vger

OK I added a slash after admin in this line of the configure.php

"define('DIR_FS_ADMIN', '/home/httpd/vhosts/taexalia.com/httpdocs/shop/admin');"

I then got the error "backup is not writeable"

So I changed the CHMOD permission from 755 to 777 and the error went away but I don't know if that's right??

In your admin consol, go to tools>database backup. Click the button to backup. If it works - it works. You have things correct. To know it works - no error messages and the green strip across the top will say "Success: The database has been saved." If there is a problem, the error message will tell you what the problem is.

Thank you everybody! I now have orders showing! And I did get an error but it also said my back-up saved so I think I am good enough to go for today!

I REALLY appreciate all the help!
