Installing osCommerce

I am trying to install osCommerce from my host provider to my server.

For some reason that I cannot understand, osCommerce and the database do not connect, I always get "access denied for user "

I have created the database and username in the mysql page and I am certain that my username and password are correct, I am using local host as the IP adress

Can anyone suggest a solution ?

You said "local host" in your post, make sure it is "localhost" without the space.
