featured product box plus product description

Hello! Have featured products displayed on the main page - instead of the new products box - and am having a terrible time trying to pull the product description to display in the featured listing box. Keep getting a parse error so I know it's something simple - but does anyone already have the featured products box (not the featured products page but the box that replaces the new products) to display the product image, product price and the product description?

any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks

I am still working on this and am not making any progress - I can get the descriptions to pull in the new products module, added them to the product listing no problem - but for whatever reason - the script won't pull the descriptions for the featured products ... does anyone have any ideas????

thanks!

thanks for the suggestion - I had reviewed that contrib - but I simply want to truncate the existing description without having to enter additional data into the product. I almost had it but then I couldn't figure out how to force the description to only display a certain number of characters. I am still working on it and hopefully will have something working soon - I'll be sure to post it if I figure it out. Still open to suggestions if anyone has done this already.

thanks!

$sql = 'SELECT `products_description` FROM `products_description` WHERE products_id ='.$new_products['products_id'].' && language_id='.(int)$languages_id;

$description_query = tep_db_query($sql);

$description = mysql_fetch_array($description_query, MYSQL_ASSOC);

$description['products_description'] = substr($description['products_description'], 0, 50);

$desc_len = strlen($description['products_description']);

$description['products_description'][$desc_len-1] = '.';

$description['products_description'][$desc_len-2] = '.';

$description['products_description'][$desc_len-3] = '.';

Not sure if that will help?
