cGFX Posted November 15, 2005 Share Posted November 15, 2005 ok i installed osCommerce with ease, and its running great except that i cannot add new categories, nor can i delete the 3 default categories. I can enter the default categories and delete the subcategories but i cannot delete the parent category. I cannot also rename the default categories either. I have tried everything, I read thru most of the forum trying to find a solution in other posts and thus far only a few people had this issue with little resolve. I contacted my hosting company and they did tell me I have full permissions on the ftp server and all of the folders are assigned the correct permissions. I tried deleting the entire catalog directory , deleting my database and starting over and again nothing. I tried deleting all the child directories and then deleting the parent and again noda !!! anyway here is what i do ... i go to www.mysite.com/catalog/admin up comes the admin tool screen .... then i click catalog ... now listed is ... Folder Hardware Folder Software Folder DVD Movies and on the right hand side is edit delete move i hit delete and then this comes up ... Are you sure you want to delete this category? Hardware WARNING: There are 8 (child-)categories still linked to this category! WARNING: There are 6 products still linked to this category! so i hit delete again and as though it is taunting me it doesnt delete ... lol any help would be awesome !!! thx in advance Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
