Image sizing for info boxes and page display....

Hi all,

I'd like some advice if possible, I (well my client actually) have some issues with images in OSC. Basically I've constrained the small image size in admin to 100 wide by 80 high, which for my client is too small! He wants to see his products as large as we can get away. I read that if you remove the sizes the image goes in at full size without any ratio problems, so I tried this and it worked to a certain extent but now of course my images in the info boxes are way too big... I need those limited. I've had a good look at some contributions out there, auto thumbnailer and info box customiser to name a couple but I'm really just wondering what the best approach is - I'm not even bothered if the 'enlarge' link comes off, I'd much rather have the images at full size on the shop pages.

Any help would be great!

Many thanks

Kevin

The problem with larger images is a time loading factor are people with modem going to wait around all day waiting for apage to load? 100 x 80 seems fine resize your browser to 800x600 and then let your boss take a nother look.

A nother problem is the extra images that may be present such as scroling images, specials, whats new and reviews which all take time top load??

I think I know what Im talking about.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't OSC load the full size image anyway, whether it's restricted to the 'small image size' or not. In that case load times shouldn't be affected should they? My main question is how do I independentally control the images in the info boxes (which could be portrait or landscape) whilst leaving the images elsewhere the size at which they're uploaded?

yes the standard install does load the full size images but sqashes it into a thumb nail sized image with out the option to click to large image You will need to install an image contribution for that.

so a thumbnail of say 100x80 can be enything upto 600/700kb and that big

Lar I had the same problem, the way around it is to change which image you are calling in the PRODUCT_INFO.PHP page try changing SMALL_IMAGE_WIDTH with CATEGORY_IMAGE_WIDTH
