metricbikes
I have an IP address that I tracked to Japan. It comes into my site for 8-10 hours adding a large amount of items and does this every night. Then it dissapears. Is there a way to restrict IP access to the site? Or to end a session? Thanks. mark27uk3
Hi Steve, Why disallow it when it could be a spider, check your server logs to find out what it is called and then add it to your spiders.txt file. It will allow the spider to index your site but restrict it from adding items to the shopping cart. Mark Lifes a bitch, then you marry one, then you die! Mark Ya well sorry about that I jumped the gun. FIrstly make sure you are running an updated spider.txt And If you have the visitors stats contribution installed you can check if its visitor in your visitors log if not its a spider. mark27uk3
When you update your spiders.txt file it maybe a good idea to remove the 'java/' from it just in case you get any conflicts. This happened on my store because the HSBC payment module uses the java/ and it was preventing the HSBC return which stopped all order logging in the dbase. Just a word of warning! metricbikes
210.150.10.41 Here is the IP. I don't believe it is a spider and it spends 8-10 hours on my site at a VERY SLOW crawl.
mark27uk3
Hi Steve, I still think its a spider, if you trace the ip address and then do a whois on the company it shows as 'Japan Network Information Center'. I would check your server logs to see if you can find its name. Mark Lifes a bitch, then you marry one, then you die!

Thanks again. Steve
