error logging

I have a problem with a site i've been working on.

 

the site store keeps logging out customers or asking people who are browsing to login with every other page view or as they proceed to the shopping cart or browse around the site, also as customers try to advance through the stages of the shopping cart, it continually asks users to log back in again.

 

I have done a test of the site in several browsers including IE6 & Firefox. I have also done a check on the server logs & a series of errors come up on the logs which read as follows:-

now, what i can't understand is the file "public_html" doesn't exist in the site set-up or on the server.

 

can anyone explain what is going wrong on the site or give some clues as to why we are having these problems in the site server error log.

Well i can only conclude i made a big mistake using oscommerce.

When I go to your site, I am not prompted to login unless I click on My Account.

 

What are your session settings? (Admin tool > configuration > sessions)
