Help with Navigation Mouseover and Header graphic

Hi, I'm new here, hoping someone can point me in the right direction on this. I have searched through the forums but haven't been able to find the information I am looking for.

 

I guess I've done this backwards.. .. I had my site pretty much looking the way I wanted it to, was planning to use a 3rd party shopping cart... but now am trying to use OSC instead. confused? I sure am. >_<

Here is what I have so far (i.e. not much!) with OSC:

I had the Leaf image in the header at one point, but it repeated twice, and then when I replaced the OSC logo in the header.php file, it disappeared completely... :(

 

 

How can I make the OSC header look the same (or similar) to the original site? Do I do it in the stylesheet or somewhere else? Any pointers appreciated.

OK I think i'm getting somewhere... slight change of plan but I figured out the header part (I think...)

 

still don't know how to get the change of color on the mouseover effect (I can get the background of the text to change, however I don't know how to make a whole "block" change color, without having to make it separate images... hmmm

 

any ideas on that one welcome
