whYME953 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 hi all. does anybody know if there is a way to find out if people buy certain products online? (other than paying big $$$ for a proper survey/study) i don't mean it literally, i know people buy because there are a bunch of websites already selling this stuff (well, alot of it anyways) if my focus is a lot different than these other sites (i.e they seem to focus on the consumer grade products, i would like to focus on the industrial grade) how can i know if there is much of a market? thanks alot
MarcoZorro Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 The only way to be sure is to conduct market research yourself or buy a report on market trends... there is no quick a cheap way to plan a new business idea.
Chance Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Pretty much what Marco said. Find someone in the industry you would like to sell your industrial grade products to and quiz them on their buying trends, what they think of your product(s), etc. Thats about the only way you are going to get any sort of market information without authoring a study. My advice comes in two flavors- Pick the one that won't offend you. Hard and Cynical: How to Make a Horrible osCommerce Site Warm and Fuzzy: How to Make an Awesome osCommerce Site

Mainly the teenage market. Look at what they are spending their cash on - like MP3 players or iPods. They seem to up-grade mobiles on a regular basis too. Ringtones sell, but lots of people already do that. If you have an eye for clothes trens then that might be a way to go... Or try the Bling thing. What ever you go for, just watch your potential buyers to see what they need. Best of luck, Nick106b
