tchannon
We had one of our developers deploy an osCommerce shopping cart for a client. The client is complaining that they cannot upload images/create new products. What apparently happens is that when they try to upload/post a new product, and then press PREVIEW, it just shows an empty screeen and then times out on them. They say they have tried on many computers and it keeps happening. However, I have tried to upload and have had several other people do so as well, and have had nothing but success. Big images...small images...all sorts of different variations/iterations of creating new products...successful upload to site. I have even been on the phone with them, gone through it, step by step, and they have experienced the error while I have success. Do you have any suggestions on why this might happen? I think it is either a user error on their end or something with their computer settings. Do you have any insight or suggestions on why this time out on their end may be happening? VladDrakul
The same with me. I can't add any products but if I ask someone else to insert they can with success. This should be a problem on my computer, i guess. Any windows update or something?

I am having the same issue. I've installed many osCommerce shopping carts for customers and have seen two instances where I was able to upload images, but the customer was not. Now I've got a similar situation. One of my programmers in another state can upload images, but I cannot. I've tried from 7 different computers on two different networks and just get broken images. My programmer uploads images every time he tries. This is an issue with osCommerce that has not really been address as far as I can tell. I thought I found a post somewhere that mentioned an issue with windows that might be the possible cause, but I have not been able to confirm. Any suggestions greatly appreciated (cannot upload images)
jhande
I'm affraid I won't be of much help, but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents any way. I am stuck with dialup here in rural America on the mountain top as high speed can't seem to make it this far. I used to get time-out messages with certain ISP providers. Now that I am back with Earthlink things have improved greatly. Most ISP's jump "your" isp number around even while you are connected (really bad for gaming LOL) and causes a slight disconnect from the other end, but usually the other end reconnects to you. Earthlink doesn't do that, you keep the same number for the duration of the connection. Another factor to concider, ping rate... if your connection is traveling through many different servers to reach it's final destination, a slow down (heavy traffic along the way ie- high bandwidth) and your final server gets tired of waiting for your signal - "You have timed-out" message. I'm not sure if there is a Windows fix or not, I just made sure my modem was properly setup and called Earthlink for an "extra setting" that would help keep me connected. So far so good. Even the telephone operator can't drop my connection and cut in on me. I know, my wife has tried to call home while I was online. Oh, I have two systems. One running WinXP SP/2 and the other Win98SE and both are doing fine. So check your settings and question your ISP, they may have heavy traffic. ;) - :: Jim :: - - My Toolbox ~ Adobe Web Bundle, XAMPP & WinMerge | Install ~ osC v2.3.3.4 -

javalang
I created two oscomm shopping carts for my parents businesses and all of a sudden they can't upload photos, if they try, the browser crashes and the whole network dies! We then need to restart our router for heavens sake. The carts have been running fine for a few years. We were using ie7 and firefox on two xp machines and these just didn't work. A solution was found when I used Safari on a mac to upload a photo, which worked fine. I then installed safari 3 beta on an xp machine and the upload worked fine too. Those still having trouble may benefit from trying this. I found the solution by doing a google search for "oscommerce upload crash" or you could try this post: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/lofiversion/i...php?t33850.html
