lonestarbaits
Okay, here's the deal. I installed osCommerce "successfully" and I could access the catalog page fine, but when I tried to access the admin page (to edit the store), it's just a blank white page. I followed the post-installation steps (listed below) 1. Rename the catalog/install folder or delete it. 2. Reset the permissions on catalog/includes/configure.php to 644 (if you are still getting the warning message at the top of the page after setting this configure.php files to 644 then set the catalog/includes/configure.php file to 444 which is read only - this happens on some servers that have been updated for security reasons). 3. Set the permissions on catalog/images directory to 777 4. Set the permissions on admin/images/graphs directory to 777 5. Create the directory admin/backups and set the permissions to 777 (this is the folder to store the database backup of your store in the "Tools" section of the store admin). I managed to rename the catalog/install folder, and set the configure.php permissions to 444 (644 still gave me an error) successfully. Now, when I tried to do steps 3-5 via FTP client, it kept giving me "502 Unknown Site Command", so I'm not able to change these permissions and that might be why I can't access the admin page correctly, at least thats my guess. Does anybody know what might be the problem? I'm running Abyss Web Server X1 on Windows XP Professional (local computer). Thanks for any help. PS. Where can I get a FREE SSL certificate? lonestarbaits
Alright, I changed the FTP server and when I try to change the file permissions, they now say CHMOD command successful, but when I go back and look at the permissions for the files (steps 3-5) they go back to the permissions they originally were... I'm not sure if this is causing the "Adminstration Tool" page to not display, but it's only showing a blank white page after I install/configure the osCommerce where it gives you the two options to go next, Catalog (which I can access fine) and Adminstration Tool, which I can not. Did I miss a step?

Guest
Didnt have your particular problem. However, my problem (cant find MySQL server when going to Admin) was solved by copying the "oscommerce.sql" file (from install folder) to the website root using ftp. Worth a try?
