johnviz
We are about to go live with our website and have some questions involving SSL and Authorize.net. From what I gather on my research so far, OSCommerce does not offer SSL Certificates (Please correct me if I am wrong). Now where do you guys recommend I go get an SSL certificate and what is the level of difficulty installing it into OSCommerce? I am signed up with authorize.net as my payment gateway. Any quick help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. JohnViz
Guest
John, osC does not offer an SSL; it's just a software package. That's something you buy separately from a provider like Geotrust. It is applied to your domain name and should be installed to your account. If your host is any good, they'll know just what to do and will possibly be able to offer you a great price for one. My Geotrust SSL was free with my hosting package. Your host is probably able to offer you a shared SSL for free, but it really isn't that expensive any more so you should get your own. Set your osC configure.php files to true for SSL and it will do the rest for you by switching seamlessly between secure and non as needed (sensitive info pages vs. catalog browsing pages).
