Congratulations on getting your store live, and hope it goes well.

To be honest, I don't think there is much point in soliciting feedback on a stock osc store. My advice to you would be to give it a complete overhaul to make it your own.

As it stands now, it doesn't look very good, well at least only as good as stock osc and the one custom graphic you have, the animated gif up top is extremely irratating.

You should also install SSL

Maybe you should to check out some osc templates if you're not good with graphics and maybe pay someone to install and customize it. Have a look on www.rentacoder.com for a developer. It won't cost very much.

Boring stock oscommerce store. For gods sake alter at least a few colours before asking for a review.

Try to make the store stand out from the rest, make it your owm. If you cant sell your store and yourself to a potential custom, you wont sell a single thing.

Work hard at it, and you will succeed. At present you are set to fail.

REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP

14steve14, I dont think that just because the site is oscommerce stock that it will fail. So long as a site is easy to use and secure people will use it. Not everyone knows about Oscommerce so to them it wont be stock. When you become a fortune teller, thats when you should predict whether the shop is going success or failure.

by the way ccng you need to change the currency name from "UK Dollars" to "UK Sterling"

You should also play around with the stylesheet and at least change the basic colours.

Stylesheet.css

Header.php

Footer.php

includes/language/english.php

includes/language/english/index.php

The above files will set you in the right direction.

Some suggestions:

1) discard the "no of requests". It doesn't display any useful data, unlike a counter (even counters have their limits too)).

2) Install a thumbnail contrib (on the fly autothumbnailer is the best). Your pictures are huge!

3) Get rid of the "We offer three options at checkout time". I hate reading that on an oscommerce store with PWA installed. It just highlights the fact that PWA is a feature.

4) Get rid of the "options at checkout" infobox. You can really tell a customer how to checkout by saying something like "Buying from us is easy, only a few clicks!" without patronising the customer and making them feel stupid.

5) Install Chemo's page cache contribution. You won't regret it.

6) Install Chemo's Ultimate SEO Url's contribution

7) Install the Heading Tags contribution

8) Decrease the size of your header area. It is mostly blank space but takes up a third of your store.

9) Create an about us page. So far, there is nothing in your store to make it feel like it is run by humans. Why should anyone shop here when they can purchase from an online store that has a real physical storefront, run by real people, with real phone contact numbers etc

10) Increase the size of your product_info pictures. So far they are about 2 by 2 inches in size forcing us to click on the "click to enlarge" link to actually make your product visible.

11) Get an SSL certificate.

Good Luck with your store. Unfortuantely you are in an excessively competitive industry so your store will require tons more work before it is capable of surviving in the market. Trust is a key element in online shopping and as long as your store looks like it is just a list of products without run by an unknown entity, cutomers may hesitate before purchasing. You might not think it. but changing the colour scheme and making your store look more professional will add to the trust element.

This is a stock design, nothing much to review. I suggest getting rid of the blue border around the paypal image by setting the image to border="0" I also recommend that you change some of the icons to something other then the default osc icons.
