USPS and Sticky Labels

I am looking to utilize USPS as my primary shipment method. There are two features that I really need:

1) Utilize the customer address information held in my database without having to export it as a CSV, then import into another program...if at all possible. If not, then what tools are available to pass the customer info over to the USPS system in order to print the postage label. I didn't see any address import utilities on the USPS site.

2) The ability to print to sticky labels. The ideal situation is to use a Zebra 2844 thermal printer for the labels. If not, then an inkjet with sticky labels on a sheet. The thermal printer is preferred based on the volume and I can get one pretty cheap used.

 

I am not sure what contributions/coding is necessary to accomplish my goals. Please let me know if anyone uses USPS for a large number of daily shipments. I want to try and automate this process as much as possible (I'm sure, like everyone else).
